weight training!

Postby Renaissance » Mon Dec 14, 2009 4:26 pm

women in particular are scared of training with weights for the fear of becoming over-muscular. this is a widespread myth. in fact, weight training can give you the body you've always wished for. look at (no links please) for more about this as well as other exercise and weight loss myths.

[color=#FF0080]Definitely, weight training is a must! It raises your BMR so you're burning more fat at rest, besides if you don't want bulk just definition you can always just complete more reps with a lighter dumbbell. I do some weight training most days when at home :)

Yes! I'm a female powerlifter, and I hate it when other women say "I don't want to lift, I'll look like a man!". I train hard and heavy four times a week, and eat a specific diet in order to gain muscle, and I still look feminine.

Weight training is a great addition to an exercise programme for everyone - male or female. I always like to see others spreading the word :)

more reps with a lighter dumbbell, totally with you! That's how to tone up without buffing up at the same time.

weight training is by far the best way to go about weight loss for a few reasons

1 The more lean tissue you have on your body the higher you metabolic rate will be the more kcal your going to burn.
2 Weight training has a far bigger after burn effect on your body. Simple the amount of kcal you burn post workout! cardio after burn = 1-2 hours weight training = 6-8 hours
3 Cardio releases a hormone called cortisol which is a stress hormone that eats muscle tissue lowering you basel metabolic rate (how many kcal you burn) and stores fat around your mid section
4 weight training wont bulk you out unless your eating a specific diet plan to increase testosterone production.
5 weight training has a positive effect on your bones and joint i.e makeing the bones more dense (helping to avoid thing like osteoporosis) where as cardio can have a detrimental effect on joint especially hip knee and ankle

Work out hard enough to build muscle mass. Stop eating sugar and simple carbs. Now you can throw away your diet books.
