Pizza is healthiest

Postby jared767 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 4:24 pm

I have found this article that says "Pizza is healthiest without fatty meats and with tons of healthy vegetable toppings".

So I tried to check the facts using nutritionix online calculator
Fit'N Delicious Carb Tracker Pizza Pepperoni & Mushrooms: 490 calories, 25g fat, 39g carbs, 26g protein
*Note: This is for the entire pizza
-Fit’N Delicious Lower Fat Pizzas Tomatoes Mushrooms & Jalapeno peppers: 140 calories, 4g fat, 21g carbs, 6g protein
*Note: This is for one large slice out of a 14” pizza

What do you think?

Hi Jared767, I think the healthiest idea is to make your own pizza base.then top with a selection of vegetables such as mushrooms, sliced sweet pepper, courgette, tomatoes, grated carrot, and sliced red onion. You can make a tomato sauce by simmering a can of chopped tomatoes over a low heat and add a few teaspoons of tomato puree. Top with grated cheese. I have made my own pizzas and they are much nicer than buying them from a shop. You also know what goes into them. :D

Pizza can be healthy when it is prepared fully in home and less cheese is used.
