Sudden weight gain on diet

Postby PapaBorzarou » Wed Jan 26, 2011 3:52 pm

Im a 21 year old male, 6' 1 and weighed 240 pounds when I started attempting to lose weight on the 2nd January this year. I have been limiting my calorie intake to between 2000-2200 a day and am currently exercising 6 days a week ( 2 days circuit training, 4 days EA Sports Active 2 on PlayStation 3, very good video game based personal trainer!) Furthermore, I go on the occasional brisk walk and I am drinking 2-3 litres of water a day. I try to split my calorie allowance into 3-4 meals/ snacks a day.
On this routine, I lost roughly 7 pounds in the first three weeks but have now suddenly and inexplicably gained 2 pounds in the fourth. I have weighed myself a few of these days at the same time and the weight is the same. What could have caused this? Water retention? A decreased metabolism? I did drink some alcohol one night but nowhere near enough to have gained 2 pounds!
