Quit smoking without using any medication

Postby Clifton » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:37 am

Is it possible to quit smoking through natural methods, I mean without using those nicotine patch or medications. I don’t have much faith in medications.

Yes it is possible to quit smoking through natural methods, only it requires a good effort from your side and also a suitable plan to stick to, because lack of a plan is likely accountable for almost 90% of the failed attempts to quit smoking. You can get useful tips at, a site completely dedicated to help people to quit smoking.

Yes it is possible to quit smoking in natural way. You should recognize the time of smoking, many people smokes when they are in depression or when they are in happiness. Some people have the habit to smoke heavily when they are with their friends you should identify such type of situations.

Hi,

It is possible to quit using natural methods. I quit about 1 year ago. I didn't use anything, I am not going to lie to you, it was the hardest thing I have ever done. But bloody worth it.

Recently I've stopped smoking, with a lot of hesitation, because it strenghtened my apetite. But it's a step in the right direction, because I've been changing all of my habits.

It actually made a slight step back in my weight loss efforts, as it increased my appetite. :(

How I stopped smoking?

It took a lot of effort and dedication, but I managed to do it without medication or without professional support.

I used to be a heavy smoker, smoking more than a pack of cigarettes per day. I had a lot of preparations, before I actually stopped smoking. Took me a couple of weeks of strongly thinking how I am killing myself with each cigarette I smoke.

Cigarette after cigarette I increased my fear of illness. After a while I started ditching cigarettes half way. And at some point, just through thoughts alone I started skipping smokes. I tried to resist.

It took me a couple of months, because my addiction was really high, but I was going away from them step by step.

Right now I am in my first month of not smoking and my longues feel great and I feel better.

I would like to share my experience in quitting smoking. The main problem I had was that we used to smoke a lot with my friends. So even when I was trying to quit smoking it was very difficult not to smoke while my friends are smoking and they used to offer cigarettes to me - especially seeing me sad or upset. So, actually I wanted to quit, but I lacked strenght. So in around 1 month I decreased the amount fo cigarettes I used to smoke daily and what I did after was 2 months trying to avoid meeting my friends in places where it's allowed to smoke, I tried to change also other habits, so my mind wasn't busy just with smoking. These 2 months I was eating healthy, exercising a lot, not attending parties and no alcohol at all - and I succeeded with this all!!! I slept much better, I felt lighter and happier, I controlled not only smoking, but also eating.

You get addicted not only to nicotine, but also to that oral process, and if you don't have a cigerette - you will automatically look for some food. That's why I find it very essential to have stronger control over my eating especially when quitting to smoke.

SO, back to my story - two months of life without smoking, unhealthy food, parties and friends, but with self-control and exercising made me to feel really good. When after these 2 months I went out to a party I recieved a lot of compilments and I was for sure the coolest girl on the dance floor  , but... Being agan with my friends and going out to dance regularly - that's just so much of fun and positive emotions!!! And I felt back into smoking.

So, now I'm again back on the way of healthy living and trying to quit smoking together with some of my friends - it's much easier when somebody is doing it together with you!
