Clare Balding, 54, Shares Her Weight Loss Secret...

Postby admin » Fri Feb 13, 2026 11:35 am

Beloved broadcaster Clare Balding has opened up about her recent weight loss and the lifestyle changes that helped her feel healthier and more confident in her 50s. Best known for her sports coverage, royal events, and appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox with her wife Alice Arnold, Clare recently revealed a more slender figure — and fans have taken notice.

In an interview with HELLO!, Clare explained that she decided to give a low-carb diet a try after a friend recommended it and the late Dr. Michael Mosley brought more attention to the approach. “I got into my 50s and thought, ‘I’m just going to be fat and happy,’” she said. “But I thought I’d give it one more go — and it worked!”

Clare has cut out bread and pasta, minimized sugar, and even swapped wine for gin and tonic. “I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself,” she explained, noting that the changes have been sustainable and worth the effort.

Now, she says she feels more comfortable in her own skin. “I’m never going to be stick thin — that’s just not me. I’ve got massive bones,” she joked. “But I can now wear trousers with a belt and tuck my shirt in. I went for years without being able to do that. That feels great.”

Clare, who is also set to release her debut novel Pastures New, says the key was not just dieting, but shifting her mindset and focusing on feeling good. “I’ve worked hard at it — and I feel better for it.”
